Overview of Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium (PP) is additional funding given to schools in England to help improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. The aim is to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
Who qualifies for Pupil Premium?
Schools receive PP funding for pupils who meet one of the following criteria:
1. Eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)

Currently receiving FSM or

Have been eligible at any point in the last 6 years (Ever 6 FSM).
2. Looked After Children (LAC)

Children in local authority care.
3. Previously Looked After Children (Post-LAC)

Pupils who have left care due to adoption, special guardianship, or a child arrangements order.
4. Service Children
These pupils receive Service Premium, which is smaller but separate. It supports:

Pupils with a parent in the armed forces

Pupils with a parent who died in service
Main Barriers to Achievement
- Low level of reading skills
- Social, emotional and mental health needs that effect learning
- Low levels of attainment on entry
- Poor attendance
