Quality of Education

We believe that the quality of every students’ education is paramount to ensuring two things:

  • Allowing students to achieve academically and attain the best possible outcomes and qualifications.
  • Allowing students to develop socially and emotionally, so they can have the best possible character and make a difference to their local and wider communities

We know these two things will go a long way towards improving life chances; therefore, we do our utmost to ensure that the following are carefully planned and implemented:

  • Curriculum (Intent)
  • Teaching and Learning (Implementation)
  • Achievement and Progress (Impact)

Curriculum (Intent)

Our curriculum is broad, balanced and highly personalised and students now have the opportunity to study the following subjects:

KS3 – English, Maths, Science, PSHE, PE, Humanities, ICT, Music and Art.

KS4 – English Language, English Literature, Maths, Statistics, Science, BTEC Sport, Music, Photography, Health and Social Care, Geography, PSHE, History and ICT.

Teaching and Learning (Implementation)

All teaching in this provision is graded to be at least ‘Good’. In order to sustain these standards and push to be ‘Outstanding’ in all areas, our monitoring and evaluation will ensure that the following is consistently occurring and still will focus on:

  1. Teaching to meet the needs of all students
  2. Ensure that the pace and challenge of all lessons is of the appropriate standard
  3. Ensure that marking and feedback is effective and extended writing opportunities are being exploited
  4. Ensure questioning is of a good standard and is being used to effectively close gaps in achievement and progress
  5. Ensure standards of Literacy and SPAG continue to improve and command words are mastered by all students.

Achievement and Progress (Impact)

Since September 2019, our performance measures have improved at a rapid rate and are now significantly above national average, when compared to other provisions.

Alternative Provision

As part of our personalised curriculum, some of our students access some of their curriculum with one of our alternative providers, who we work in brilliant partnership with. Some activities and curriculum areas are delivered in school and others are delivered off site.

We are proud to have strong partnerships with following providers and establishments:

  • Hartlepool College of Further Education
  • Middlesbrough College
  • Stockton Riverside College and Skills Academy
  • Evolve
  • Right Trax
  • The Keys
  • Groundworks
  • Rossmere Forest School

As part of our monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance systems, our staff visit these provisions and have meetings with students and staff from these establishments. We also hold regular progress reviews, when all qualifications are evaluated.
